Welcome to the Woodland Jr Hawks Cheerleading Program! We are excited to welcome athletes ages 5–13 to a fun, supportive, and competitive cheer experience. Whether your child is brand new to cheerleading or looking to continue building their skills, the Jr Hawks program is a great place to grow confidence, teamwork, athletic ability, and lifelong friendships.

Season Information

Practices Begin: Week of July 13
Practice Schedule: TBD
(Likely 3 days per week, approximately 2 hours each practice)

This is a drop-off/pick-up program. Parents are welcome to stay during the first week of practice, after which practices will be closed to allow athletes to focus and build team chemistry.

About the Program

Woodland Jr Hawks Cheerleading is a recreational league program that proudly competes within the nationally recognized AYC league. While we are a rec program, we participate at a highly competitive level and strive to provide athletes with a rewarding and exciting cheer experience.

Program Includes

All athletes participate in:

  • 📣 Competitive Cheer

  • 🏈 Sideline Cheer for Woodland Jr Hawks Football

Cheerleaders support their football teams during the season while also training and competing in cheer competitions throughout the fall.

Football Game Schedule

Football games begin August 21/22. Each team will cheer at approximately 8 regular season games.

Saturday afternoons at Woodland Regional High School

Away Games

Typically Sunday mornings or afternoons

Competition Schedule

  • September 26 – Torrington High School

  • October 18 – Newtown High School

  • October 31 – State Competition – Hartford, CT

  • November 14 – Regionals – University of Rhode Island

Advancement Opportunities

➡️ Top 3 teams in each division at States qualify for Regionals
➡️ Top 3 teams in each division at Regionals qualify for Nationals in Kissimmee, Florida (December 2–5)
